How we collect, use, and protect your information.
Bisexual Queer Alliance Chicago (BQAC) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the BQAC community platform. By creating an account, you agree to the practices described here.
We collect information you provide directly: your name, email address, pronouns, and bio when you create an account or update your profile. We also collect event RSVPs, in-platform chat messages, and information about how you interact with emails we send you (such as whether you opened them).
We do not store payment card data on our servers — any ecommerce transactions are processed entirely by third-party payment processors. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or unaffiliated third parties. Ever.
We use your information to operate the BQAC community platform: connecting you with events, enabling member-to-member messaging, sending you event reminders and community updates (with your consent), and enforcing our Community Guidelines to keep BQAC a safe space.
Your data is processed by the following trusted third parties who help us operate the platform: Clerk (authentication and account management), Supabase (database, hosted on AWS), Stream.io (real-time chat), Brevo (transactional and marketing email), and Vercel (hosting and deployment). Each processor is contractually bound to protect your data.
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@bqachicago.org. We will respond within 30 days. Account deletion requests are processed by BQAC admin within 30 days of request resolution.
Your data is retained while your account is active. Upon account deletion, your personal data is removed from our systems within 30 days of the deletion request being resolved by our admin team.
